Question Is glutamine related to gluten?

Our oldest daughter is sensitive to gluten. Does anyone know if glutamine contains gluten? Is there a chance that she would be 'ALLERGIC" to glutamine as well?

No, they are two totally different things.

I'm not a doctor, but I don't believe it is possible to be allergic to glutamine... your body is made of it. The only amino acid that I know of that anyone is allergic to is phenalaninine.

Halfway down, under "precautions," it says:

This is Immanuel Hukkeri from India. I tried to locate L-glutamine here in India. Only one company supplies. It contains aspartame and phenylamine. Both the substances are cancer causings agents. Pure L-glutamine is effective .
It is very expensive. 15grams cost 4$.

Hi, I read that gluten breaks down the lining in the colon and that L-glutamine actually helps to repair/rebuild this. When I tried to find this exact article I was reading the other night, I couldn't. But, I did find this one. Hope this helps.

I am curious so I bought some and will try it out. Not everyone carries the stuff, but I found a bottle of 60 capsules (500 mg ea.) for $12 Cdn.

Celiac disease is related to glutamine. The following quote is from an organisation for that disease -- http://www.csaceliacs.org/celiac_defined.php

However, glutamine represents a group of proteins, not a single compound and not every protein in that group has the harmful amino acid sequences.
