 | 11-05-2005, 11:02 AM | | | Great Resource, thanks The link you posted to the Cornell site on COPYRIGHT LAW and PUBLIC DOMAIN was one of the best I have ever seen. I bookmarked it and will likely refer to it often. Of particular interest to online publishers would likely be the #7 fdootnote at http://www.copyright.cornell.edu/tra...htm#Footnote_7 which has other good links in it too. Anyone interested email me at m_marcello@bellsouth.net and I'll email you one of his books. | 12-22-2005, 11:37 PM | | | Kayvee, how is your public domain project progressing? I read you post about it just now. I joined Simpleology yesterday. I found out about it after much research into internet marketing and learned that Mark Joyner is considered among the best (and considered the absolute best in this field). I signed up as soon as I heard about Simpleology. I do not pretend to be accomplished at internet marketing. I have been paying attention for the past several years and have read about publishing public domain books for profit. Now I am beginning to implement my strategies. Your strategy sounds like a very viable strategy to me. In fact, I have it as part of my own plan. I recently ordered a catalog of public domain books in hope of finding a gem or two. Another strategy I am employing is joint venturing. If you are interested in joing forces to profit from public domain books, I would be willing to agree in writing to not disclose the name of your book or your plan if you would like for me to review it and give you my feedback. Perhaps we can create a mutually beneficial arrangement where we work together to publish, market and profit from it. If not this one, perhaps another? If you'd like to discuss it further, please post here and we'll keep the conversation moving forward. This is a "live broadcast" of audio/video of a "presenter" to their own personal chatroom audience. There is the ability to charge for admission to these integrated into the system. Primarily aimed at the new age niche group and just starting up in the USA. MindSpiritNetwork.com is the site, I am the USA coordinator and facilitator for it and would be glad to answer any questions about it. my email is roger@cashdharma.com namaste, Roger Lothamer | 04-28-2006, 08:41 PM | | | | Join Date: Mar 2006 Posts: 1 | | Do not send your book to ANYONE until... Dear Kayvee: Any book that is in the public domain can be copied, republished, and sold legally with no remuneration to you. If want to make money off the author's ideas, then you must rewrite the book by: creating substantial re-expression of the content, adding your comments on the ideas, or adding new ideas of your own, or by adding quotes of others that relate to the subject matter. Then, prior to exposure of your "newly authored book" to anyone, go through the normal copyright procedure. Even after you copyright the book, before you show it to anyone, anywhere, especially to people you meet over the internet, make them send you their full name, mailing address and send make them sign a non-compete agreement and send by mail back to you. You must also require them to have their signature notarized. Otherwise they are free to make money off your work, and most likely will, and you will have no recourse at all. Jim Edwards, a very successful e-book entrepreneur writes about seeing his ebooks ripped off. If you believe in what who are doing you must be acutely aware that there is tremendous "illegal" greed on the internet. There is also tremendous opportunity. You can't be too afraid to act, but you must act knowledgeably. If you want to go into this further you can write me, or you can google Jim Edwards. You will also learn to promote, sell and make money from Jim. Get on his news letters. You will be learning up to the minute information, clearly expressed by a top expert. Tell him David A sent you. | 08-17-2006, 01:20 PM | | | | Join Date: Jan 2006 Posts: 12 | | hey guys Hi guys… I want to thank everyone who replied their opinions and suggestions to my post. I finally turned the book I found in the public domain into an Adobe format e-book. In between that I was trying to finish my university studies. Other than that I still don’t know how to proceed from here. I don’t know anything about setting up a webpage, sales letter, automated payment system and so on. I am looking to partner with someone to market this e-book. Serious and interested people can contact me with their proposals and ideas. Thanks Kayvee | 08-23-2006, 02:27 AM | | | | Join Date: Jun 2006 Posts: 1 | | Hi Kayvee: I've been using "33 Days to Online Profits" by Yanik Silver and Jim Edwards, and the "Public Domain Mastermind" eBook package to help me out with my in-progress public domain project. I'll be launching my website and weblog soon, as a result. I would check out those products I mentioned, as well as the Nolo book "The Public Domain" for further assistance with your project. You can upload your PDF and can sell either/both ebooks and hard copies. They do print-on-demand, so you won't have to keep an inventory of hard books. The fees are very reasonable and you can also build a website there.
