Confession: I'm a Blogging Moron

It's really really true ...

I used to think blogs were stupid.

Even after I started this blog, I still didn't really get it.  (evidence:  notice I didn't have "comments" on for the first year - should have listened to Olga Farber Becker and Jason Cain)

So, where do I get off asking my company to create a course on blogging for fun and profit?

Good question.  And that's why we're giving it away for free.  (for now)

After consulting with quite a few veteran bloggers (guys who are making real money with their blogs - and not by selling "get rich" noise), we think we've hit the mark pretty well, but in the spirit of the blogosphere we want to put it out there and let the community decide.

So, please comment below (see, I'm slow but catching on) and tell me:

1.  How's this blog coming?

2.  What do you think of the new course?

I've been blogging for a few months with only a few readers signing on ... which really has been getting my goat. :)

I've also been a Simpleology-101 and WOMT student for the past 3 months - all I can say is WOW, Mark, that's a fabulous pair of courses - WOMT helps me grow my business, and Simpleology-101 helps me take action in both business and every other sphere of life.

Blogging, however, has been an uphill slog - if your new course is anything like the other two I'm in the midst of, it's worth every penny I paid for it - of course, it's wonderful that I paid no pennies, but if I had, I bet I'd still be saying that it's worth every penny! :)

Thanks again for a fun blog - I'm still tempted to try out the Learn-to-Draw course ... if only I had more hours in a day!

Happy Holidays, everyone, and here's wishing there really _is_ peace in the world some day soon!

Cheers,
Maya

Note from MJ: Thanks Maya! :)

Blogging is great, and I look forward to your course!

Mark, just my 2 cents worth - having a 'cut and paste' widget code which you will then 'verify' before giving access to the blogging course isn't the best way forward.

I'd suggest just letting people access the course - and then when they blog about it, having some way to list their review link on your blog, which will have real value TO THEM (the reviewers) as it will be linked to from a high-profile web property (your blog!)

Just my thoughts :)

All success
Dr.Mani

Note from MJ: Hey Mani, you may be right. It will be fun to see how the experiment unfolds ... The idea here is that they get real value in posting as it is - access to the course and the shot to alert their folks of something nice for free. Will it be enough incentive? Who knows :-) Traditionally the best buzz comes from pure inspiration, not incentive either way ...

Too bad the software isn't working. I posted the code in my blog, and your system keeps telling me that it's not there. The hassle of filing a support ticket isn't worth it.

Note from MJ: Yikes! We're on it - and someone will contact you the moment it's fixed.

There are too many anti- this and anti- that in Ron Paul's program, and all his anti this or that sounds too good to be true.
Nowadays if your mind can't "mix" it can cause too many frics (as in friction)

How do I know this?
Well, there is a group of demogogues sitting at a round(kabalalike)table who has power over all the kings and governments on the planet. If a person's brew (a person running to lead the so-called super power) tastes like theirs regardless of if the masses like the taste of it or not, that is the person who will be given the role to play. It's what is called the "mixed medium" program. Your mind has to be like a free canvass so they can paint their picture on it then, you are able to create that pic/image and make it what they consider "reality" but in real life it's merely a skill on how to be a master at delusiveness.

Hope this helps!

Note from MJ: Hi Marsha, perhaps you meant this for the other post? :-)

Again, thanks Mark for this opportunity. I have bought some e-courses on blogging but when I decided to get going, I found Wordpress too lofty and too difficult. I use Blogger for personal blogging and these are much easier. I have opened a Blogger blog launching your 'code', so I look forward to the course and reviewing it. (And of course making a gobsmacking fortune that I can't quite imagine right now).
Best regards,

Hi Mark You have done it again. I am a student of WOMKI. I did not want to go thru' the hassle of learning html and hence I wanted to start a blog and market my business and Simpleology. As always you are so GENEROUS. You took your time to create a mutimedia course and deliver it to us. I have read articles and researched about blog, but your course is simple, easy to understand and more than enything gave me the CONFIDENCE to start my blog. That too before the holidays! May God bless you and your team-Kaching!!!!! Thanks a lot. Wish you all Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Thanks Lalitha

Hi Mark, as a true fan of your courses I pasted the code on our blog. I have been a blogger for about 8 years now and there are still things to learn. So I will go through the course and enjoy it - as usual. By the by, sometimes it is quite ok to close comments... even in times of social media; depending on the blog's purpose and specific laws I wouldn't recommend open comments on every blog. It can be very time consuming and distracting to moderate every comment (I guess you know that). There is more to discuss on that topic, but this shouldn't be the place to do so. Mark, I wish you Merry Christmas, a Happy New Year, and I say thank you for teaching me Simpleology this year.

Melanie

Note from MJ: Hey Melanie, thanks for the kind words and the advice. I think you're quite right. There are some very good blogs that don't allow comments at all for that very reason. Luckily our Customer Care team is there to moderate, so it's a luxury we can enjoy. Have a kick butt 2008!

I've mentioned the course on my blog eagerly waiting for the announcement. I didn't get any confirmation email after I submitted my link. You can click on my name and visit it.

Note from MJ: Hey Manoj, it's possible it was blocked via spam filters ... Please check with our help desk and they'll get you sorted ASAP - http://www.simpleology.com/support

Hey Mark,
I haven't been bloging for long, and thanks to your blogging course you have given me some great tips and insights to help my own site get a kick along.

Just finished reading "Simpleology" and passed it on to my wife to read. Thanks! I'm starting the Simpeology 101 course and have done Day 1 so far and think it is the best software program I have used to keep me focused and on track with priorities and goal, etc. Can you recommend a "complex project management" program, e.g. to co-ordinate a national tour for my band Myztery and other such activities?

We have a blog for our band on our website at www.myztery.net and we will definitely incorporate things we are learning from Simpleology in our music. (I have a BA in Philosophy and a Masters (M Div) in Theology but I must say I like Simpleology a lot more! I even composed a jingle about it last night while walking with my wife!

Thanks again and I look forward to hearing from you soon,

Pete Mason

Note from MJ: Hey Peter, that's a really good question - I haven't been satisfied with any of the complex project management software I've seen out there - and I don't know of a single company that has stuck with any enterprise level PM software for long either. Best thing to do is to simply use some process maps (google it if you don't know how to make one), and excel spreadsheets - breaking things down into projects and sub-projects. Then you can refer to that when you do your DTP and delegate out single actionable items as you go. Keep us posted on the tour! And I'd love to hear this jingle :-)

Hey Mark,

1. The blog is coming along nicely, it did have a very slow start, but you have for sure redeemed yourself. Now that you mention it, your lack of 'enthusiasm' for blogging did show through...
From my perspective, I would MUCH rather read a blog post from you than an email anyday, the feedback potential of a blog is invaluable!

2. Just started the course - love your work.

Hi Mark,

I am into the course at Day 3 and like it allot, so far I like that it starts at beginner level 1 and progresses from there.

Looking forward to the days ahead and thanks again,

Note from MJ: Thanks! Haha, I like your new monicker. What has turned you from professional to militant?

Hi Mark,

I don't know about your blogging expertise (I'm about to find out by taking your new free course), but you are definitely a marketing genius. What an outstanding way to promote your blog by giving away a how-to-effectively-and-profitably-blog course.

I'm looking forward to taking your course, particularly since I recently signed up for Yaro Starek's blogging mastermind.

Thanks, Mark, and cheers to an outstandingly profitable year of blogging!

Love and Joy and Light and all the rest,

Tshombe

Well you appear to have your signup for the free course and verification process completely smoothed out. I just did it now and it went off without a hitch. I haven't had a chance to do more than glance at the course outline. How much time per day, do you expect the course to take?

In terms of your own blog. It's okay, but the frequency of posts is less than optimal. Personally I like to know that if I visit a blog once a week or so that there will be something new for me to read. Preferably a couple new items.

Hey Mark,

I'd be happy to have a look at your blog course and share some of my own insights. But I won't endorse something before I've seen it. Sorry buddy... your code snippet trick is too high a price to pay.

Ciao,

A

Note from MJ: Hi Alec, if you read it carefully it doesn't imply an endorsement at all. It merely says you'll check it out and give an opinion later. I'd never ask you to endorse it without seeing it.
